Perform a variety of nonprofessional nu rsingphysician and nurses with physical examinations by helpingposition patients, changing non-sterile dressing and weighing patients.Take and r ecord

Work Performed

Prepare pati ents, equipment anmination;provide such additional care as required to m eetthe personal nd supplies for specific procedures andprovide manual assistance as requig,assisting withambulation, enemas, skin care, and bowe land bladder eliingRN/LPN of information collected.Administer treatment and personal care procedures to patients including,but not limited to, f eeding, bathing,shaving, changing clothing,cleaning and trimming fingern ails, bed-makinbyreinforcing teaching instructed byRN and/or physician a sneeded.Assisteeds andcomfort of assigned patients.Participate in teachi ng activitiesvital signs, record I&O, apply ice bags, administerdouchesand enemas.Note and report any changes in patient's condition.Turn and po sition patiered.Obtain and record patient data for medical records notin g and informnts, set up and feedpatients as necessary,provide patientswi th freshdrinking water.Perform fingersticks for blood glucose testing,wi th appropriatetraining.Assist with admission, discharge, and transportat ion ofpatients.Follow standard precautions and use personal protective e quipment asrequired.Collect, deliver and conduct routine tests on patien t specimens.Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipm ent asrequired.Participate in own professional development by maintainin g requiredskills validation and attending educational offerings. Support thedevelopment of other staff and formal learners.May also perform ster ile dressing change for wounds over 48 hours old,IV fluid assistanceacti vities, oral/nasogastric feeding and urinarycatherizations/irrigation.Pe rform other related duties incidental to work described herein.

Completion of a Leve l I - Nurse Aide education program approved by theNorth Carolina Board o f Nursing or successful completion of the NC -approved Nurse Aide I com petency test.High School diploma or equivalent required.

Cur rently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) with the Division ofFacili ty Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud,neglect or mi sappropriation of property.BCLS certification must be maintained/complet ed by the end of new hireorientation, which typically takes place during the first week ofemployment.
