Occupational Summary

The Media and Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for implementing the media and digital marketing strategy for the Everything Happens Initiative of Duke Divinity School.

 

 

Work Performed

 

Social Media Manager

  • Manage and oversee social media content for Professor Kate Bowler and Everything Happens

  • Updates editorial calendar with on-brand content, adding promotional trending content when necessary

  • Continuously improve platforms by analyzing metrics, insights and best practices, then acting on the information

  • Organize, tag, and track video catalog

  • Works with video team to commission and edit videos, keeping projects accurate and on-time

  • Translates Everything Happens content onto various mediums, optimizing platforms to increase visibility of social content

  • Attend weekly content meetings with faculty director and graphic designer

  • Have final eyes on all content before it is released for final edits, proofing, and high-quality control

  • Listen and then re-share/re-package Kate’s media features and publicity on our channels

  • Watch for upcoming holidays (e.g. Nurses Day) and build content and/or community engagement around them

 

Digital Marketing

  • Works with Ad Agency to create, update, and monitor ad campaigns

  • Monthly analytics reports including successes and areas for improvement points from all sources—including web traffic referred from social sites, making recommendations/changes when necessary

  • Craft copy for captions, website content, curriculum outputs, and podcast copy staying consistent to Everything Happens brand tone

  • Collaborate with Everything Happens/Professor Kate Bowler core team to work on overlapping content/marketing to ensure consistency of brand across all platforms

  • Collaborate with Everything Happens team to market free assets and email funnels (PDFs, Lent Guides, Videos, etc.)

 

Other Project Coordination Work

  • Assist in podcast production providing content development as needed, including editing small sound projects, drafting copy, etc.

  • Attend all-hands meetings each week

  • Attend and contribute to listening session ideation

  • Assist with any product launches (books, merch, Lent guides, etc.)

  • Meet with contractors and creative coordinator to take detailed briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project

  • Gather profiles of Professor Kate Bowler’s audience to determine their needs, tendencies, what content they engage in, what they ignore (information gathered from emails, letters, podcast reviews, social media replies, comments)

  • Pay attention to grant specific audience interest and charting those for future grant reports

 

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

 

Education/Training

  • Work requires communication and marketing skills normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a related field.

 

Experience

  • Work generally requires one year of related experience in advertising, marketing, media, promotions or public relations OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

Departmental Preferences

  • Experience in social media marketing or as a Digital Media Specialist

  • Understanding of social media analytics, KPIs, web traffic metrics, and SEO

  • Copywriting

  • Ability to ghostwrite (match tone)

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Eye for storytelling especially in short-form media

  • Proficient in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition)
