Material Indexer for Duke Kunshan University 

 

The material indexer is a part-time, seasonal position that assists the staff in the Duke Kunshan University (DKU) Office of International Enrollment Management (IEM) to perform selected duties during seasons of peak activity.   

The material indexer works 20 hours per week on average from mid-November through mid-March. Training and initial work weeks are performed on-site in Durham, NC. Work may evolve to a hybrid model following this initial period. Please note this is a part-time, seasonal position that requires an annual reappointment.   

Work performed: 

The material indexer reviews digital supplemental application documents and applicant profiles; They sort, separate, and match materials to the appropriate applicant & application. They research and verify data about schools, colleges, and other organizations referenced on application materials. As digital academic materials in a variety of formats, which support applications to the Duke Kunshan University undergraduate program, are imported into the Slate CRM platform, the material indexer will examine each document digitally to verify many points of information such as name, issuing organization, and material type. They will locate and review the associated applicant's profile in Slate to determine if the material should be assigned to that profile. And if so, also classify the material to the appropriate type within Slate.

This role performs other related data entry duties incidental to the work described herein.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Prior experience filing or indexing digital files is highly desired. 
  • Excellent communication, analytic, time management, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must be able to prioritize work effectively to meet weekly deadlines. 
  • Well-developed computer skills and the demonstrated ability to adapt to new software programs are crucial.   
  • Must have a computer and high-speed internet access and wired or wireless connection to internet provider at a quiet & private location. 
  • Must demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality.  
  • Candidates must be self-directed and able to work independently following initial training.
