The Marketing Communications Manager creates and develops assets for Fuqua’s Brand Marketing Team that introduce prospective students to our programs, our students, our faculty, campus life, residencies, and other significant business school events.
Reporting into the Director of Brand Marketing, the Marketing Communications Manager (level 12) is a member of an energetic team that includes experts in branding, brand strategy, brand imagery, marketing campaigns, content development, project management, and budgeting. The Brand Marketing Team is a key function within the school's Global Marketing department, which includes colleagues focused on digital strategy, media and public relations, and market intelligence. We are passionate about the work we do and our team as a whole.
This is a position for a talented individual who is able to reflect the brand positioning and tone within written content and imagery that can often be complex in nature, and where accuracy of information is of the utmost importance. The right candidate will also have superior project management skills in order to coordinate with other departments in the school, with external vendors, and with students and faculty to complete their objectives within a given timeframe while staying on budget. Deliverables will include new and updated campaign assets, website content, student profiles, online reports and brochures, and printed recruiting collateral, among others.
Major Responsibilities
- Write and/or edit compelling marketing content for campaigns, websites, brochures, reports, case studies, recruiting collateral, and other marketing needs.
- Project management of key deliverables, including:
- Admissions collateral: Create/update annual recruiting collateral pieces to meet Admissions team recruiting cycles
- Student profiles: Solicit nominations for students to profile for website; select a compelling roster, obtain student profile input, organize photography, and write profiles
- Others as needed: employment reports, graduation materials, event materials
- Maintain an up-to-date website including content, event calendar, links and imagery, refreshing these regularly to keep website appearance fresh
- Collaborate with the Brand Marketing team to generate ideas for and produce admitted student “swag” that meets trademark and licensing requirements, maintains or reduces budget, and is a compelling gift to an undecided student
- Produce and maintain helpful guidance materials for partners across the school, such as an updated messaging toolkit and documentation of marketing processes. Maintain a useful marketing wiki site, ensuring updated collateral and logos are posted for business school staff and faculty.
- Work closely with vendors on marketing projects, including designers.
- Coordinate with program teams across the school to update/improve marketing material.
- Work closely with Dev team (website content, campaign landing pages, CRM – Slate and SalesForce).
- Consult on organic SEO tasks/questions as requested.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, English, communications, or related field
- Minimum of two years’ experience producing marketing content for print and websites (five years preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of branding, advertising, and marketing principles
- An understanding of audiences and how to tailor content appropriately in a wide variety of platforms.
- Experience planning and managing projects in a lead capacity
- Experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. Drupal) strongly preferred
- Understanding of Google Analytics and other metrics
- Knowledge of SEO best practices

- Must be able to develop excellent working relationships at all levels throughout the school, with particular emphasis on program teams and admissions
- Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and efficiently and work under firm deadlines
- Understanding of how content, design, form/format, navigation, and usability work together for effective communication across multiple channels
- Interest in photography, videography, or an eye for design preferred
Education
Work requires the ability to perform creative writing and related activities such as conducting interviews and research, and copy editing normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or a related discipline.
Experience
Work requires two years of directly related writing experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $58,656.00 to USD $85,000.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
