General Description of the Job Class
Support the following performance management and improvement services for the Duke Health System Quality office supporting Duke University Hospital, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital, and other entities within the Duke University Health System
This position will focus on advanced analytics, data engineering, and performance improvement to enhance clinical operations and patient safety outcomes—particularly within the PRT (Patient Response Team), Sepsis Watch, and patient deterioration initiatives.
Operational and Analytic Support
- Serve as the data and analytics lead for PRT/Sepsis/Decompensation initiatives, managing data pipelines, dashboards, and performance reporting.
- Provide project management and analytical support for clinical and operational improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement data solutions that improve care outcomes.
Decision Support and Performance Reporting
- Develop clinical analyses and dashboards in support of quality, safety, and operational leadership.
- Coordinate ongoing improvement processes through timely data acquisition, curation, and visualization.
- Support key performance indicators and publicly reported performance measures related to sepsis, patient deterioration, and emergency response programs.
Systems-Level Impact
- Assist in scaling data and analytics support across all Duke hospitals to ensure consistency, comparability, and system-wide learning.
- Promote the use of data science methodologies to drive evidence-based decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related field. Master's degree desired.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years of related experience. Experience can be supplemented with Master's degree with a Masters being equivalent to two year of experience. Or, with 2 years of Duke ME I experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with data engineering or SQL preferred.
- Ability to manage complex projects and work collaboratively with clinical and operational stakeholders
