The Department of Radiology is seeking a Lab Research Analyst II to join our team. In this role, you will oversee and conduct research in line with the priorities and goals of the Center for Virtual Imaging Trials (CVIT). Responsibilities include creating, organizing, and optimizing project processes; developing medical imaging quality & safety analytics; implementing and/or maintaining data warehousing; shepherding the creation of pipelines for virtual trials; and assisting with manuscripts and submission of new NIH project grants as well as ongoing reporting for existing grants. Additionally, you will assist with oversight of day-to-day operations within the CVIT, including procurement of supplies, research operations, staff training, and data management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Work requires bachelor's degree in a related scientific field.
  • Minimum four (4) years of research experience. A related master's or doctorate degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis (e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience).
  • Or, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to simulation modeling or virtual clinical trial frameworks.
  • Familiarity with machine learning or AI methods applied to imaging.
  • Research Data Management and documentation practices
  • Statistical Analysis & Experimental Design
  • Technical Communication (reports, publications, presentations)
  • Project Management Tools (e.g., monday.com)
  • Collaboration across scientific teams

  • Onsite. The work is performed on-site or at a designated assignment location.

Position Description:

  • Support research projects focused on virtual imaging trials, computational modeling, and imaging technology evaluation.
  • Manage, curate, and analyze experimental and simulation datasets.
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Confer with the principal investigator in developing plans for research projects and to discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication.
  • Assist in the development and validation of imaging simulation tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support study design, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Supervise, train, and instruct residents, interns, students, or lower-level personnel in laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional research standards, data governance, and quality control procedures.
  • Schedule and manage meetings
  • Review journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous experiments to aid in the design and development of original procedures and techniques.

Education

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $96,509.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
