Perform a variety of technical duties involved in supporting genomics and molecular biology research in the Reddy Lab at Duke. A successful applicant will work independently under the direction of Dr. Reddy and postdoctoral fellows in the Reddy lab.details of the Reddy Lab can be viewed at   Master’s degree is preferred.

Work Performed

70% Effort: Perform technical duties involved in designing and carrying out complex molecular biology studies that involve coordinating the effort of several lab members over months to years.. The work will require substantial molecular biology and cell culture, and sufficient experience to work in those areas with minimal supervision is highly desirable. The work to be performed will also rely heavily on the use of high-through put study designs in 96- and 384-well formats. For that reason, previous experience in those formats is required. Specific tasks will include coordinating and contributing the production of electro competent cells; molecular cloning of recombinant DNA plasmids; large scale preparation of media, reagents and solutions; plasmid DNA purification; RNA and DNA purification from cultured mammalian cells; generation of high-through put sequencing libraries; and running Illumina sequencing instruments.

10% Effort: Training graduate students and junior technicians in laboratory techniques, particularly in areas of molecular biology, cell culture, and biochemistry protocols.

20% Effort: Manage day-to-day lab operations including setting up equipment maintenance, coordinating lab chores, ordering supplies and equipment, maintaining inventories for general lab use and for individual researchers in the lab.

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or otherdirectly related scientific field.


Work requires two years of research experience. A related master'sdegree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., atwo year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE




Work requires a bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology,genetics , genomics or other directly related scientific field.  Master’s degree is preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency and ind ependentproblem solving in molecular and cell biology techniques.
