  • Complete highly technical lab experiments (50% effort)
    • Perform a variety of experimental preparations, coordinate the collection of necessary of reagents and supplies, and use specialized equipment to execute complex experimental protocols such as STARR-seq assays.
    • Serve as the point of contact for status updates in support of overall lab planning and research project goals.
    • Communicate protocol issues and work with PI and research team to troubleshoot solutions.
    • Present experimental results to the research team in group lab meetings.
    • Collaborate with other lab members including LRAs, research techs, and postdocs working on related protocols and research projects.
       
  • Independently develop and optimize new protocols for use in future large-scale data generation efforts (25% effort)
    • Develop and optimize protocols.
    • Develop schedules for meeting data generation goals on time.
    • Coordinate and contribute to small team efforts to implement that schedule.
    • Track progress report progress to the lab PI and research team.

 

  • Lab management (15% effort)
    • Overseeing shipping and receiving
    • Maintaining inventory and ordering key reagents
    • Coordinate lab chores, including equipment maintenance and organization
    • Prepare and maintain lab stocks of common reagents

 

  • Maintain knowledge of cutting edge technologies and approaches (10% effort)
    • Review journals, abstracts, and scientific literature on new approaches and opportunities to optimize lab processes and protocols.
    • Share updates and information with research team.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

 

Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
