Research Analyst I position is immediately available in the Cardiac Electrophysiology and Tissue Engineering laboratory of Biomedical Engineering Department at Duke University under Professor Nenad Bursac (http://bursaclab.pratt.duke.edu/). Responsibilities include maintenance and expansion of human pluripotent stem cells, primary cells, and cell lines, differentiation of pluripotent stem cells to cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, endothelial cell, and macrophage lineages, molecular cloning and CRISPR/Cas9 editing design, production of lentiviral and adeno-associated viral vectors, cell transfections and transductions, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence staining and microscopy imaging of cell cultures and tissue sections.

 

The candidate should be able to work alone and in team and to perform independent troubleshooting based on literature reading and/or consultations with technical personnel of commercial manufacturers. The candidate should be also able to train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

 

Education/Training

Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field. 

 

Experience

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.  OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
