Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Clinical Registries Data Analyst is to optimize and support workflows and processes related to the acquisition, management and reporting of data for the Clinical Registries Team. The Clinical Registries Data Analyst will gather requirements, analyze data, design and build dashboards, visualizations and databases, and provide support and training to end users. This will include integration of automated data abstraction solutions, including AI, and optimization of performance of BI solutions.
The ideal candidate is an IT professional with experience with EPIC and healthcare data analytics, management and reporting. Experience with clinical quality reporting and project management is a plus.
Work Performed
Level 1
• Individual contributor works under the direct supervision of level 3 or above and collaborates as a member of a team
• Basic understanding of local databases (Clarity; Caboodle) and underlying tables pertaining to role/domain
• Basic understanding of analytical/BI technologies and terminology related to role
• Data Gathering and Analysis: Basic proficiency in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to support request
• Requirements Elicitation: Ability to gather and document business requirements from stakeholders for DWD/BI.
• Documentation: Capability to create and maintain documentation such as business requirement documents (BRDs) and user manuals.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders and team members.
• Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying and solving basic business problems through data analysis.
• Basic Data Visualization: Familiarity with basic data visualization tools and techniques for presenting data in simple charts or graphs.
• Follows all policies and procedures set forth by DUHS/DHTS/ACE as pertains to role
Level 2
• Meets all Competencies in Level 1 AND:
• Works with new hires/Level I team members to train on use of tools and technologies to accomplish job duties
• Advanced Data Analysis: Proficiency in performing complex data analysis, including trend analysis, forecasting, and segmentation.
• SQL knowledge. Can write/modify accurate SQL queries independently > 75% of the time
• BI Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in using BI tools like Tableau, and or Power BI, to create interactive dashboards.
• Data Modeling: Understanding of data modeling concepts and experience in designing data models for BI solutions.
• Demonstrates ability to work with stakeholders to understand business needs and perform business analysis independently >75% of the time.
• Requirements Management: Ability to manage and prioritize business requirements.
• Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including task prioritization, ie: completing QA for projects, scheduling of meetings, etc.
• PI Engagement: Ability to engage with PI to understand their needs, gather feedback, and communicate project progress effectively.
• Ability to locate data elements independently > 85% of the time
• Participates in team viz review
• Actively seeks out participation in Special Projects and is able to effectively accomplish project assignments with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage multiple projects to completion in a timely manor
• Ability to develop and present topics as assigned/needed by customer and/or ACE team
• Active participation in Duke Analytics Community or other networking forums applicable to job functions.
Level 3
• Meets all Competencies in Level 2 AND:
• Strategic Business Insight: Ability to provide strategic insights and recommendations based on in-depth analysis of business data.
• Data Governance and Quality Assurance: Knowledge of data governance frameworks and experience in ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Expert locating data elements as required. Assists team in locating data elements as needed.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Capability to lead initiatives, mentor junior analysts/BI developers, and provide guidance on complex projects.
• Expert and team resource with SQL development
• Demonstrates proficiency with basic ETL procedures and tasks including use of tools such as SSIS, IWS, Python
• Knowledge of and appropriate usage of fundamental statistics (effective communications with statistician and development of visualization)
• Demonstrates ability to work independently to solve problems and complete assigned work >95% of the time
• Demonstrates ability to work with customers to understand business need or problem to address independently >95% of the time
• Responsible to maintain and update training and support documentation of tools being used by team or PIs.
• Leads Projects with minimal supervision
• Change agent with regard to team processes, workflows when issues/gaps are found
• Expert in a given area, in the business workflow
• Staying updated with emerging technologies, industry standards and best practices in BI and data analytics.
• Serves as moderator, leader or channel owner for a forum such as Duke Analytics Community or other professional networking organization
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Credential requirements will vary, depending on work area.
Experience
Level 1 - No experience required beyond the minimum education (or equivalency) requirement.
Level 2 - Two years of related experience is required.
Level 3 - Four years of related experience is require
