Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Duties and Responsibi lities of Level I: Perform a variety of routine tasks associated with th e installation, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of imaging an d imaging related clinical equipment, typically non-life support. Perfor m electrical safety tests on clinical equipment using
specialized test equipment.
Assist in the support of a systematic preventive m aintenance program Perform incoming inspections and complete documentati on on clinical equipment. Deactivate obsolete equipment and use surplus and salvage protocols for removal.
Serve as a resource to Duke Uni versity Heath System employees in the proper operation and maintenance o f clinical equipment.
Notify user departments regarding status of repair requests that have not been completed. Effectively communicates w ith clinical departments to obtain loaner or replacement equipment as re quired.
Report all patient safety issues to supervisor or manager and assist with correction of issue as assigned. Meet individual and tea m departmental performance standards on a consistent basis.
Answer phones in a pleasant manner, screen and refer calls as appropriate; del iver messages and provide informationto staff, visitors, and patients, upon request. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
Dem onstrate initiative and concern for planning, time utilization, and cost containment. Maintain good working relationships with fellow workers, n ursing and medical staff, and the general public. Maintain accurate and timely documentation with Department policy. Maintain a clean and safe w ork place. May require travel to other Health System facilities as requi red to perform departmental functions.
Complete all required Healt h System training modules within the time allowed by policy. May be requ ired to be on-call and respond per department policy. Perform other rela ted duties incidental to the work described herein.

Duties and Responsibilities of Leve l II
Perform all the duties and responsibilities of Level I plus:< /p>
Consistently perform both routine and complex tasks associated wit h the installation, maintenance, and repairof a diverse range of imagin g and imaging related clinical equipment.
Perform independently in both routine and complex tasks. Must be able to prioritize work and ini tiate new work and tasks.
Consistently work with end users to ???c linically??? troubleshoot a problem and be able to identify solutions fo r resolution. Must be proficient with prioritizing work assignments effe ctively in order to meet Departmental goals and standards.
Provide mentoring and precepting to Level I technicians.
Serve as a resou rce to Duke University Heath System employees in the proper operation an d maintenance of clinical equipment.
Assist in identifying and rec ommending replacement of equipment that is obsolete, has extensive repai r history, or has identified safety issues Participate in committees as required.
Coordinate inspection and installation of incoming equip ment as required. May be required to coordinate the work performed by se rvice contractors and vendors to include maintenance, calibration, insta llation and verification of service documentation. With limited supervis ion, coordinate and manage both routine and complex projects from start to completion, performing any necessary communication and follow-up with department.
Assist with conducting evaluations of equipment as re quired. When assigned, participate in Device Incident Investigation proc ess and provide follow up to management per Department policy.

Duties and Responsibilities of Level III< /p>
Perform all duties and responsibilities of Level I & II plus:< /p>
Consistently perform a variety of routine, complex and specialized tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of a di verse range of imaging and imaging related clinical equipment. May be re quired to specialize on various types or systems of clinical equipment a t this level, requiring specific training and / or certification.
Provide mentoring and precepting to Level I & II technicians Must be a technical resource to clinical staff concerning all patient interface issues.
Conduct departmental training sessions as required coveri ng safe operation and maintenance of equipment for Level I & II tech nicians. Assist departments with developing technical specifications for equipment purchases.
Routinely and independently coordinate and m anage projects, both routine and complex, from start to completion, perf orming any necessary communication and follow-up with department.
Provide leadership and prioritization of work in absence of Team Lead or manager. May serve as a Team Lead and be required to monitor throughout the month completion status of correctives, preventives and new equipme nt inspections for their assigned team, reassign individual responsibili ties as required to obtain departmental goals.

Education
Associates Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology isrequired.Two years of militarytraining in clinical equipment or vocationaltraining in electro nics may substitute for the degree requirement.

Level INo experience required, beyond degree/military/vocational t rainingdescribed aboveLevel IIRequires a minimum of two years of experie nce as an Imaging Engineer,preferably in a healthcare setting.Level IIIR equires a minimum of five years experience as an Imaging Engineer.
