Minimum Qualifications
Education
-Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
-Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
-Received First Aid and CPR training.
-Received training on the use of portable fire extinguisher.
-Received training on fire safety.
-Received training on OSHA standards for lockout/tagout procedures.
-Received leadership training.
Experience
Must have 3 years of experience in a high voltage environment. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

What You’ll Do:
- Install, modify, maintain, and repair high-voltage electrical equipment and circuits, including wire, conduits, ducts, transformers, switches, switchgear, and protective devices in facilities such as electrical substations, vaults, pole lines, underground systems, and related electrical distribution components.
- Perform allied construction work, including installation of telephone vaults and conduits, pulling cables, trenching, and backfilling for street and traffic light installations.
- Carry out duties related to the construction of underground duct systems, including excavation, placement of precast manholes or vaults, duct installation, concrete placement, shoring or sheeting, backfilling, and landscaping.
- Conduct periodic preventive maintenance on electrical distribution equipment and associated circuits.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to lower-level employees.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
What You’ll Bring:
- Basic knowledge of electricity and high-voltage circuit identification and application.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment and component identification.
- Understanding of manhole and duct bank safety.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- Ability to troubleshoot street light circuits.
- Proficiency in using a bucket truck, line truck, cable trailer, wire puller, and trencher.
- Knowledge of lighting control installation.
- Experience with cable pulling for power and telephone systems.
- Ability to install street lighting equipment and duct banks.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on electrical distribution equipment and circuits.

- Training in street light circuit installation.
- Advanced safety training in high voltage, low voltage, and street lighting work.
- Electrical license or department certification.
- Six years of experience in a high-voltage environment.
