Position Summary

 

As a Golf Course Player Assistant at Duke Golf Club, your primary responsibility is to promote a positive golf experience by maintaining an appropriate pace of play, supporting golf operations, and ensuring that all guests enjoy a professional and welcoming environment. This role requires proactive interaction with players and coordination with pro shop staff.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote an enjoyable golf experience for all players.

  • Monitor and maintain the pace of play, encouraging groups to complete 18 holes within the designated time frame.

  • Patrol the golf course—driving in the opposite direction of play—to observe and assist players without disrupting their shots.

  • Politely address and move along slow groups as needed.

  • Record key operational data including number of players and golf cart usage.

  • Enforce golf course rules and share any special instructions for the day in accordance with club policies.

  • Assist players by locating lost balls or helping in ways that support timely play.

  • Check player receipts at the first tee to ensure proper registration.

  • Maintain cleanliness by monitoring waste disposal areas and reporting issues.

  • Support tournaments and special events hosted at the golf course.

  • Assist pro shop staff throughout the shift as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to remain professional, calm, and courteous when interacting with the public

  • Self-motivated and proactive in resolving minor issues

  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and work well in a team environment

 

Anticipated Pay Range

$18.00 – $22.42 per hour
Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Partial high school education (or equivalent) required

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions

Experience:

  • No prior experience required

  • Relevant golf or customer service experience preferred

  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
