Position Summary: The Center for Documentary Studies (CDS) is seeking a Marketing Manager for its Full Frame Documentary Film Festival (Full Frame) to manage the graphic design, social media, and marketing projects for the program. The marketing department is responsible for the overall marketing and public relations duties for Full Frame, a program of CDS. The department develops, plans, and implements all marketing, outreach, communications, visibility, press, and public relations activities for Full Frame. It is responsible for the brand (design + execution) for Full Frame, including all print and online media, signage, merchandise, video, and collateral. Candidates must possess demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The Marketing Manager reports to the Full Frame Co-Festival Director.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing (50%)
- Oversee the creation, purchasing and distribution of festival merchandise and giveaways.
- Provide basic graphic design support, including cropping film images for the web and program guide, and creating simple graphics for newsletters, web updates, and social media channels.
- Oversee the copywriting, design, and distribution of e-newsletters to national, local, and donor audiences.
- Collaborate with external vendor to maintain fullframefest.org. Manage basic copy updates and oversee the design and production of web and multimedia graphics, photo, and video content. Conduct recurring review of metrics via Google Analytics and compile monthly report on growth and trends.
- Oversee Full Frame’s social media, including the copy, design, and publishing of content across all of Full Frame’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo, SmugMug) in accordance with the voice and brand of the organization. Monitor and analyze performance and trends on social media. Conduct recurring review of metrics for social media and compile monthly report on growth and trends.
- Oversee the production of festival video assets including the festival’s preshow trailer, seating slides, and reels, collaborating with local vendors and partners.
- Recruit and manage the festival’s photography and videography team.
Development + Outreach (20%)
- In collaboration with Co-Festival Director and development team, identify outreach opportunities for Full Frame to connect with new audiences, sponsors, and stakeholders.
- Develop written content for all external fundraising communications including donor-facing monthly e-newsletters and sponsorship deck.
- Compile and track sponsor ads for the program book, adhering to predetermined deadlines and specifications in collaboration with the programming and development teams.
Press (15%)
- Under the guidance of the Co-Festival Director, and in collaboration with Duke Communications, execute the annual press/PR strategy including the drafting and distribution of press releases.
- Oversee festival press accreditation process including creating and disseminating applications, liaising with applicants, and communicating with attending press before, during, and after the festival. Track and compile press pitches and press hits before, during, and after the festival.
Advertising (10%)
- In collaboration with Co-Festival Director, develop strategy for annual print, web, radio, and television advertising and track deliverable milestones and analytics.
- In collaboration with Co-Festival Director, facilitate trade and/or sponsorship opportunities for advertisements.
- Oversee the creation of print and digital ads, web graphics, and promotional materials, working with outsides vendors as needed and keeping with the festival’s brand identity and standards.
Administrative (5%)
- Manage marketing department budget (approx. $50,000) including annual and monthly tracking.
- Create and oversee the distribution and collection of the annual festival audience survey.
- Manage seasonal marketing and communication team members and volunteers, including social media coordinators, photography and video coordinator, outreach coordinator, and local vendors and festival partners.

Preferred Experience:

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires one year experience in marketing, advertising, media, OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE promotions, graphic arts, public relations, sales, or other related background to acquire skills necessary to plan, develop and implement marketing strategies in one or more specialty areas.
