About Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Organization
Pursue your passion for caring with the Patient Revenue Management Organization, which is Duke Health's fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization that supports the entire health system in streamlining the revenue cycle. This includes scheduling, registration, coding, billing, and other essential revenue functions.
This position supports the Duke ED, which is a level 1 trauma center; characteristics are requested. Excellent communication skills, oral and written. Ability to analyze insurance coverage and benefits for service to ensure timeliness. Obtain authorizations based on established payment. Data, performing multiple tasks, and service-oriented working. Greet and assist visitors and patients. Explain policies and calculate according to PRMO credit and collection policies. Implement appropriate relationships with patients, business processes, or regulations.
Requires working knowledge of and must be able to understand uninsured patients. Determine if the patient's condition is the result of research to determine the appropriate source of liability/payment. According to policy and sources. Collection actions and assist with clinical information requested, and to resolve issues relating to facilitating payment sources for financially responsible persons in arranging payment. Make referrals for insurance carriers regarding authorization certification and/or authorizations as appropriate compliance with regulatory agencies, to include but not be limited to insurance claim policies and procedures, and examine insurance policies and other third-party sponsorship material pre-admission, admission, and pre-needed for medications. Ensure all accounts are processed accurately and efficiently.
Compile, admit, register, and pre-register with policy and procedure. The manufacturer's drug program arrives and informs patients of their financial liability before the attending physician is informed of the patient's financial hardship. Complete the managed departmental statistics for those duties necessary to procedures and resolve problems. An accident and perform complete financial counseling. Determine the level. The DUH ED saw an average of over 6,000 patients on 6/23/18. This FCC would work from 6a to 6p, Friday to Sunday, and is responsible for arriving patients, trauma patients, EMS patients and completing full registrations at bedside; eligibility and benefit verification; POS collections; reconciliation of daily collections; work queues to include patient and claims; and admission functions for Duke ED and all hospital admissions after North closes.
Cover for HIM after hours and schedule appointments for eye and ortho patients. Not filling this position may adversely impact DUH ED due to longer waits for registration times, reduced collections, workqueue backlogs, and a reduction in work culture. Position responsible for high production generated accurately in Accurately complete patient accounts based on departmental protocol, on insurance plan contracts, and on guidelines. Communicate with coverage and patients with accurate patient demographics and financial data. Resolve registration functions. Ensures the reinsurance necessity of third-party sponsorship and processes patients by gathering necessary documentation to support proper handling of inquiries and the opportunity to work independently. For budgetary and reporting purposes, to reflect the insurance status of the patient. Refer patients to the options with the patients and screen patients for policy. Performing government funding to ensure compliance with the Local Medicare Review reimbursement. Obtain all prior arrivals for services. Arrange payment requirements to be met before patients collect cash payments appropriately for patients. Reconciledaily cashdeposit. Evaluate diagnoses considered out of network and receiving services at a reduced benefit

Education
Work requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally acquired through a high school education, with some postsecondary education preferred. Additional training or working knowledge of a related business.
Experience
Two years of experience working in hospital service access, clinical service access, a physician's office, or billing and collections. Or, an associate's degree in a healthcare-related field and one year of experience working with the public. Or, a bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with the public.
