JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Financial Analyst II in our Duke Health Integrated Practice Finance Office located in Durham, NC to coordinate the preparation and distribution of Outreach and Med Legal invoices, oversee collections and ensure timely payroll submissions for practitioner supplemental payments related to these services. This position will help develop and prepare the monthly Outreach accrual and AR reconciliation/aging analysis, as well as, collect, interpret and communicate key findings to leadership audiences through timely, clear, polished and engaging reports. Additionally, the position will, in coordination with the departments, prepare the annual budget for Outreach revenue.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead in-depth variance analysis of invoicing and payment activities against contractual agreements and budgetary expectations, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions to improve financial performance.
- Develop and present comprehensive monthly aging and reconciliation reports for receivable accounts tied to Outreach and Med Legal billings. Oversee billing for a portfolio of over 60 customers, generating more than $2 million in recurring monthly revenue. Provide analysis and insights to upper management to support decision-making and ensure timely collections.
- Monitor and enforce financial compliance, ensuring strict adherence to policies and procedures in the processing and distribution of Outreach and Med Legal invoices. Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a financial liaison and subject matter expert, collaborating with departmental business managers, clinicians, and administrative staff to resolve complex billing and collections issues, and support budget-to-actual analysis.
- Prepare monthly auto-reversing accruals for Outreach and VA services, ranging from $2–4 million per month, based on billing activity and completion status within SAP. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation in coordination with the accounting team. Additionally, prepare and review general and standard journal entries, providing interpretive commentary on financial results and contributing to month-end close processes and financial reporting.
- Lead data compilation and financial modeling efforts to support short- and long-term forecasting initiatives. Contribute strategic insights to the annual budgeting process.
- Oversee and streamline the payroll request process for practitioner supplemental payments tied to Summus, Included Health, and Med Legal revenues, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. CPA is desirable.
- Work requires four years experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment.
