Duke University is looking for a Facilities Audit Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will help ensure accurate reporting, accountability, and compliance across Duke’s facilities, equipment, and space inventory. You’ll play a hands-on part in auditing campus spaces, verifying equipment, maintaining inventory integrity, and supporting federal audit processes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys investigative work, organizing information, understanding how systems fit together, and collaborating with departments across the university.
Minimum Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Strong reading, math, and writing capabilities
- Five years of experience involving classification, counting, estimating, or related work
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Requirements
- Ability to analyze equipment records, invoices, and cost data
- Comfort working with multiple departments and federal auditors
- Ability to manage a review cycle and maintain accurate inventory systems.
This position is hybrid, supporting Duke University campus facilities.
Be Bold. — What You’ll Do
- Conduct audits and inventories of facilities, including fixed and moveable equipment
- Determine whether equipment should be capitalized or expensed
- Research and resolve missing or unaccounted equipment with departments
- Classify space based on functional use and physical characteristics
- Support federal auditors during facilities reviews
- Verify records for government surplus equipment
- Schedule audits to maintain a 24‑month review cycle across departments.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires a general knowledge equivalent to a high school education to acquire comprehensive abilities in reading, mathematics and writing.
Experience
Work generally requires five years of experience providing the opportunity of demonstrating skills to classify, count, estimate or compute. OR One year of experience as a Facilities Audit Trainee. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
