Occupational Summary

Participate in the design, planning, evaluation, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of Duke University mechanical electrical systems.

Work Performed

Participate in the design, planning, evaluation, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of University mechanical electrical systems to include heating plants, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing and associated distribution systems to ensure that the needs of the University are met in the most economical and effective manner.

Review and coordinate mechanical plans with architectural plans, specifications and equipment for new installations and renovations; inspect projects during and following installation and advise as to compliance with specifications prior to University acceptance.

Assist in the establishment of University standards to provide guidelines for future project planning, design, construction and maintenance. Determine fiscal requirements for mechanical and electrical systems and office personnel and submit budgetary recommendations.

Advise and assist with problems involving mechanical maintenance, such as, but not restricted to, psychometrics, fluid flow and mechanical control systems.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Supervise various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

 


Experience:

Work requires a minimum of three years of applicable experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Anticipated Pay Range:

 

 

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for thisposition as USD $ 75,128.00 to USD $119,916.00.
