Occupational Summary

 

The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS), co-located at UCLA and Duke University is the coordinating center for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). The NCCTS is seeking applicants for the position of NCCTS Program Coordinator. The NCCTS leads, coordinates and facilitates national collaborations and initiatives across child servicing systems and multiple topical domains; producing child trauma resources, products, reports and information for providers, treatment developers, families and stakeholders. Please note that the NCCTS does not provide direct clinical services to children and families. This position (NCCTS Program Coordinator) is anticipated to be a combination of remote and on-site work. The position is located at Duke University in Durham, NC.

 

The NCTSN is a unique federally funded initiative that seeks to improve the quality, effectiveness and availability of care and services for children and families who are exposed to a wide range of traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual abuse; domestic, school and community violence; natural disasters and terrorism; and life-threatening injury and illness. Combining knowledge of child development, expertise in child traumatic stress, and attention to cultural perspectives, the NCTSN supports the development and broad adoption of evidence-based and trauma-informed treatments. The NCTSN is a collaboration of more than 150 academic, clinical, and community service centers across the U.S.

 

Position Duties

 

The NCCTS Program Coordinator is based within the NCCTS Training and Implementation Program (T&I) and reports to the NCCTS T&I Program Director. This position:

  • Captures, assigns, and monitors completion of key action items for T&I Team members, faculty, and implementation teams across multiple projects.
  • Coordinates major aspects of multiple training initiatives, including: participant communication (LMS and listservs); contract negotiation and monitoring with vendors; and compiling, consolidating, and editing training material.
  • Assesses and evaluates process measures for planning and implementing training initiatives; makes recommendations to T&I Team members, faculty, and implementation team members for improvements in process based on these evaluations.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains public relation documents including: project- specific stakeholder email updates; recruitment information for training participants; public website and training-specific LMS updates; and stakeholder-specific newsletter and outreach material.
  • Monitors project expenditures (against budgets) for multiple initiatives and communicates with supervisor when proposed expenditures exceed budgeted line item.
  • Communicates with multiple Duke entities around branding (e.g. marketing material), procurement, and reimbursements (to name a few).

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
  • One year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.
  • [Preferred experience] Knowledge of, or interest in, a program field related to the NCCTS mission (child trauma, mental health, public health, public administration, hospital administration).
  • Experience in the following skills:
    • Providing guidance and direction to teams, including setting standards and monitoring performance.
    • Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions of problems.
    • Evaluating program performance, summarizing findings, communicating results, and forming an action plan.
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
