JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator to be responsible for all matters related to and concerning DME within the clinic. Including, but not limited to, fitting, refitting, custom measurement, patient education, financial counseling, prior authorization, and patient satisfaction. Acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, and leadership. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preforming all facets of patient DME encounter in clinic.  Properly measures patient and chooses correctly prescribed brace from available inventory.  Able to demonstrate proper application and use of products and convey this clearly to the patient.  Based on knowledge of products in office inventory, is able to suggest a product based on provider’s goals for patient treatment.  This includes all office inventory of ‘off-the-shelf’ products and available ‘custom fabricated’ products to include patient follow up for delivery and necessary troubleshooting.  Should be able to clearly explain insurance billing or cash collection process to a patient during encounter. 
  • Review of claims in DME WQs for assigned site to verify claims are clean and all documentation meets guidelines.  Able to obtain patient’s benefits and accurately interpret them to provide meaningful financial information for patient encounter.  Able to successfully initiate and complete prior authorization process when necessary.  Bring outstanding issues to attention of providers, local site leadership and DME Program Manager. 
  • Maintain an accurate site inventory by reviewing inventory PAR levels and leakage, ordering stock, and stocking received inventory. 
  • Train and provide oversight at different locations to verify products are being applied to patients within manufacturer and safety guidelines. 
  • Forwarding all invoices to the HCA for payment once confirmation of product is received. 
  • Following up with any patient questions/concerns about DME products and billing issues.
  • Review products, introduce them to faculty, and follow process to add them to Epic preference list and educate staff. 

 

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in biological science, athletic training, exercise science or Kinesiology.
  • One year of experience in clinic or healthcare setting preferably with duties that include patient care. Previous bracing/DME/Orthopaedics experience strongly preferred.
  • OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
  • National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification (NATABOC) licensed or eligible NATABOC certification, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification or orthotic fitter certification preferred.

 

JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
