Title: Duke Athletics Climate and Sustainability Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Duke Athletics Climate and Sustainability Coordinator will provide critical staff support in designing and implementing a Duke Athletics Sustainability Strategic Plan. This position will be the primary support to mobilize the Athletics Climate Team (ACT) and will serve as a liaison between Duke Athletics, the Duke University Office of Climate and Sustainability, as well as all relevant constituents. The coordinator will align athletics with the University Climate Commitment as well as help identify opportunities and execute steps, goals, and action items. The position holder will maintain and develop strategic professional relationships to help advance athletics goals.
Essential Functions:
Program Development and Strategic Alignment (35%)
● ACT
○ Coordinate and oversee the ACT to include membership, meetings, agenda, plans, execution, evaluation and revision
● Climate Commitment Alignment
○ Support the ACT in connecting with the Climate Commitment Advisory Council (CCAC).
○ Develop and execute strategic plans for athletics sustainability for progress.
Student Leadership Support (25%)
● Athletics Sustainability
○ Provide leadership and mentorship to the Duke Sustainable Athletics Group and the Athletics Climate and Sustainability Green Devil and support associated projects and initiatives
■ Prepare meetings, events, and guidance
● Student-Athlete Engagement
○ Oversee and manage events, volunteer opportunities, education, and professional development in the green sports space connecting student-athletes with the ACT
Engagement and Events (25%)
● Athletics Events
○ Coordinate planning, feasibility assessment and execution of athletics sustainability events (i.e. Climate Commitment Football Game, Athletics Climate Week, Green Games, Training Table innovations and any other events as designed)
● Professional Liaison
○ Maintain and develop relationships with professionals in the green sports industry via networking, conferences, and informational sessions to guide the development of Duke Athletics’ sustainable strategy.
○ Analyze and review opportunities to enhance sustainability related efforts and initiatives
Program Assessment and Communication (15%)
● Deliverables and Communication
○ Develop and continue methods to capture Duke Athletics sustainability work, through both tracking progress on sustainability goals and the communication needed to tell the story. (i.e. annual report, annual goals and strategies, Athletics Climate and Sustainability Website, and the Duke Athletics sustainability project tracker)

· Demonstrated sound organizational, coordinating, and personal interface skills
· Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
● Knowledge of and/or experience with sustainability, ideally with sports sustainability specifically
Reporting:
● Co-reports to Director of Office of Climate and Sustainability (Lindsay Batchelor) and Deputy Director of Athletics/ Operations and Capital Projects (Robert Weiseman)

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $47,766.00 to USD $55,000.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate' s work experience, education/training, and keyskills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
