Duke Community Affairs (DCA) forges purposeful partnerships with its neighbors in the region, with a particular focus on Duke's home – Durham, NC. DCA connects area community partners and local governments with the people, research, and institutional resources of Duke University and Duke Health. It also supports community partnerships through scholarship, service, and collaboration, including volunteerism and philanthropic activities. DCA focuses on housing, health, education, employment, and community, with priorities in affordable housing and infrastructure, food security and nutrition, early childhood and K-12 school readiness, college and career readiness, and nonprofit/community-based organization capacity-building. 

 

Position Summary:


Work closely with the Strategy & Communications team to support communications strategies essential to community partnerships and engagement across DCA and Duke. Coordinate and implement projects, including writing, editing, and designing materials highlighting the importance of community partnerships to the university's mission and values. 


Work performed:

 

•    Design and implement storytelling projects highlighting the history of Duke’s community service and engagement work. Coordinate with teams and units within DCA, across Duke, and within communities to create two to three compelling and engaging written or multimedia stories illustrating progress, accomplishments, and impact from our work in each of the five strategic priority areas: housing, education, employment, health, and community.
•    Lead the implementation of a multimedia asset management system, collecting photos, videos, graphics, and other collateral across DCA’s teams to develop a central repository and standard operating procedure for DCA staff.

This position reports to the senior director for communications. DCA’s offices are located in Mutual Tower in downtown Durham, NC, with occasional meetings and events taking place offsite.
