Job Description
Manage and coordinate internal communications and change management functions for Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital (DLNH).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage strategic communications plans designed to support Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in defining strong and trusted communication channels, and to strengthen the Duke Health brand and image within the organization. Design communications plans; work with department leaders to define, construct and implement communications, engagement and change management activities critical to ensuring an engaged and informed talent force.
- Collaborate with DUHS Marketing & Communications, Human Resources, and other divisional enterprise Marketing and Communications professionals to ensure continuity in communications and messaging.
- Lead a comprehensive internal communications strategy to promote transparency, morale, and team member engagement across all departments.
- Work with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives. Proactively seek to apply marketing and communications practices, planning and tactical development to advance the success of organizational objectives.
- Work in partnership with hospital and health system leaders to develop and support community outreach communications strategies to strengthen hospital visibility, trust, and partnerships within the local community.
- Serve as the communications lead during crisis situations, managing internal updates and real-time messaging in coordination with DUHS leadership.
- Supervise and mentor junior communications staff or external vendors; foster a collaborative environment that supports innovation and growth.
- Collaborate with project partners to determine themes and content for communications resources, including messaging, publications, presentations, videos, advertising and online presence (intranet, websites, social media); ensure all resources are HIPAA-compliant and align with Duke Health’s mission and vision, and with DUHS’s brand standards.
- Write key messages, host town halls, produce newsletters, and design other communications materials that are central to operations.
- Develop content and manage design and production of print/digital publications.
- Plan and execute photo shoots. Serve as staff photographer (nonprofessional) to document activities when needed.
- Work with DUHS Communications to develop and produce video and digital content.
- Research, archive and manage the use of graphic resources (logos, photographs, etc.).
- Create and maintain templates for Duke Health Lake Norman resources, such as PowerPoint presentations, letterhead, etc.
- Consult with clients regarding projects to identify needs, objectives and design approaches; develop schedules and budgets, as required, for each project.
- Work in partnership with Duke Health Marketing and Communications to develop and maintain professional contacts and affiliations with media, production and related external resources to facilitate and promote the dissemination of news and publicity about DLNH.
- Develop and maintain relationships with DUHS administrators, managers and clinical staff to support service line business development objectives.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, health care administration, marketing, communications or a related field is required.

Experience
- Five years of directly related experience is required.
- Experienced in the development, execution and measurement of multi-dimensional strategic marketing initiatives. Key experience includes working with all levels of organizational leadership in the adoption of plans and tactics, and making plan course corrections as needed based on emerging information or market evolution.
- Experience with emerging marketing tools (i.e. social media and customer relationship marketing) is strongly preferred.
