OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

 

The Duke Health & Wellbeing (DHW) Director of Program Operations is responsible for providing leadership and direction on:

  • professional and public program content;
  • implementation and evaluation of programs with emphasis on measurable outcomes using data and best practices;
  • prioritization of programmatic objectives, activities, and budget needs;
  • development and management of financial resources to support prioritized areas of work;
  • continuation and development of team-based approaches;
  • integration of programmatic activities as well as effective use of DHW staff capacity;
  • and promotion of shared accountability, effective management, and production of high-quality work products.

The Director of Program Operations will be responsible for financial management, human resources management, operations improvement, and participating in setting strategic direction.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Oversee and manage the administration, coordination, performance and monitoring of the educational, training, and community outreach activities of the DHW, working collaboratively with senior administrative management.

Ensure the development, implementation and compliance with applicable DUHS policies and procedures.

Maintain liaison with all levels of administration, physicians and outside organizations to coordinate entity business, accomplish directives and facilitate the resolution of problems.

Responsible for the management of the programs and training department budgets including the analysis of expenses and monthly reports, and the creation of an annual budget. Create and communicate budget reports. Monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.

Ensure consistent and accurate interpretation and application of human resource policies and procedures. Interpret and administer policies pertaining to the recruitment and retention of employees. Manage various personnel issues.

May analyze operations and needs to determine potential enhancements or improvements to programs, training and community outreach activities. Recommend appropriate actions or solutions consistent with overall goals.

May be responsible for leading business development activities including coordinating the design and production of marketing materials, managing advertising and other promotional campaigns.

 Preferred:

  • 5 years of program development experience
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field
  • CHES or MCHES certification
