The Departmental Business Manager III for Duke Undergraduate Admissions will be the chief financial, facilities, and human resources administrator for the department.

 

Together with the Dean and Associate Deans, the business manager will plan and prepare the annual departmental budget, analyzing operating needs to further office and university goals and priorities. The business manager will analyze and monitor projected revenue and expenses on both a short-and long-range basis; prepare and manage capital expense budgets as required; monitor and verify expenditures; ensure compliance with University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures; oversee preparation of financial and administrative reports; and serve as the Dean’s representative for all financial matters.

 

The business manager will serve as departmental liaison between Duke Human Resources and administrative and professional personnel concerning University policies and procedures; salary administration; hiring; and pay and performance. The business manager will interface with departmental personnel to coordinate operational activities to ensure adequate staffing, space and facilities; coordinate purchasing, maintenance and renovation activities for the department; and administer a program of property management and accountability. He/she/they will oversee the management of the building and grounds and all building and grounds-related emergency and safety protocols.

He/She/They will directly supervise and coordinate work of two staff members: and Administrative Coordinator and a Staff Specialist with responsibility for fiscal, human resources, and facilities administrative support.

He/She/They will perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work requires a general business background generally equivalent to a bachelor degree programs.

 

Experience

 

Work requires 4 years related business or administrative experience to OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE functions. acquire competence in applying general personnel practices, accounting and budgeting principles and coordination of major administrative A master's degree in a business related field may be substituted for 2 years experience
