Take ownership of store operations, inventory flow, customer service, and event support in a dynamic, high‑volume retail setting.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate day‑to‑day operations of the Duke Team Store and University Store, ensuring sales floors are properly arranged and merchandised according to store standards.
- Monitor inventory movement and recommend adjustments to maximize sales and product visibility.
- Support the Clothing/Gift Concessions Program for athletic events, assisting with preparation, staffing, and coverage needs.
- Receive and verify incoming merchandise transfers; ensure accuracy of packing slips, UPC linking in NetSuite, and product pricing.
- Conduct monthly cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory levels; communicate and resolve any issues with store management.
- Perform clerical functions to support accurate departmental record‑keeping, including processing forms, documents, and inventory data.
- Participate in scheduled inventories; record markdowns and appropriately manage damaged or discounted merchandise.
- Provide exceptional customer service—assist shoppers, answer inquiries, resolve concerns, and uphold loss‑prevention standards.
- Operate point‑of‑sale terminals and process cash and non‑cash transactions as needed.
- Enter new inventory items into NetSuite and ensure margins are recorded correctly.
- Provide guidance and direction to lower‑level and student employees; escalate unresolved issues to supervisors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education/Training:
- High school diploma required; some college preferred.
- OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Experience:
- One to three years of retail apparel sales and operational experience in a high‑end, high‑volume retail environment.
- Proven successful retail track record required.
- Retail supervisory experience preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, highly collaborative team.
- Quick learner with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Comfort learning and adapting to new technologies.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $24.52.
