Job Summary


Opening for a full-time Receiving Department Coordinator/Cashier in the University Store. This position reports to the Deputy General Manager, Retail Stores. The Receiving Department Coordinator/Cashier is responsible for both back-end duties (including ordering and receiving the work deliveries with the transfer information), as well as front-end activities (including assisting customers, operating a cash terminal, and merchandising products).


Responsibilities


Assist in receiving incoming merchandise deliveries and transfers, verify packing slips for accuracy of quantities received, and ensure that all UPCs are properly linked in the NetSuite system and all items are priced correctly.


Responsible for the overall maintenance of the receiving area (inside and outside) to make sure it is clean and organized, unrecyclable corrugated boxes are disposed of in the baler at the end of every day, carts and rolling racks are organized in an orderly fashion, the space outside the receiving area entrance is neat and free of fixtures, and extra boxes of hangers are picked up by the vendor or sent to the Distribution Center. Advise management of any issues.


Conduct an inventory of materials needed for the receiving process, such as sizers for hangers, packing tape, and merchandise labels, and advise management to ensure the supply is maintained as needed to complete the daily receiving process.


Operate point-of-sale cash register as needed, processing cash and non-cash transactions. Assist customers in selecting products and recommending additional purchases; answer customer calls and inquiries and resolve customer complaints; ensure appropriate loss prevention policies are adhered to.


Coordinate day-to-day operations of the University Store to ensure retail sales floors are properly arranged, sized, and grouped according to store standards. Evaluate inventory movement and advise management of recommendations to properly display, move products to different locations, etc.


Perform monthly cycle counts and ensure that inventory is kept in accurate quantities to meet customer needs and expectations. Confer with Store’s management on any inventory issues. Make recommendations to Store’s management to ensure resolutions are communicated and acted upon related to all inventory issues.


Perform various routine clerical functions in the recording and reporting of information required for accurate and up-to-date departmental records; process incoming and outgoing forms and documents according to operating procedures; monitor and participate in inventories of merchandise.


Perform inventories as scheduled; take counts of sale, reduced, damaged and discounted merchandise; note markdown of merchandise and dispose of merchandise according to procedures.


Receive merchandise orders within NetSuite for Gothic and Divinity verifying that quantities and packing slips are correct and that the merchandise received is properly tagged and ready for the sales floor. Alert the Gothic and Divinity managers of any problems or discrepancies.


Return merchandise to publisher for Gothic and Divinity verifying that all quantities are correct, and paperwork is complete.


Process transfers between the Gothic and Divinity locations and physically move merchandise in a timely fashion.

 

Support Gothic and Divinity book events on campus by delivering appropriate books to the event location. Assist with setup for book sales. Tear down after event and return unsold merchandise to appropriate location. Assist with Textbook order distribution/pickup at beginning of each semester (fall, spring, summer).


Assist with setup and tear down of “Cash for Books” Textbook buyback events at the end of each semester. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level


Education/Training:

Requires a high school diploma. Some college preferred. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


Experience:

One to three years of retail apparel sales and operational experience in a high-end, high volume retail operation. Must have a proven successful retail
track record. Prefer retail supervisory experience.


Skills:

attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse and
closeworking team in a fast-paced setting.

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles to maintain proper inventory counts and to handle sales transactions, generally acquired through a high school education.

 

Experience

 

Work generally requires 6 months of retail store experience including OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE cash register operation experience.
