The Department of Head & Neck Surgery and Communication Sciences is seeking a Clinical-Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. In this unique 50/50 role, you will combine your clinical expertise in neurogenic communication disorders with clinical research coordination responsibilities supporting innovative research led by Dr. Jamila Minga.
Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive speech-language and cognitive-communication evaluations for adults with acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
Administer and interpret standardized assessments to evaluate communication, cognition, language, discourse, and functional communication abilities.
Develop diagnostic reports and treatment recommendations based on clinical findings and evidence-based practices.
Provide individualized therapy interventions to support communication outcomes in adults with neurological conditions, including right hemisphere brain damage.
Educate patients, family members, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members regarding communication disorders, treatment strategies, and prognosis.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and institutional guidelines.
Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation professionals, researchers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and research activities.
Minimum Requirements
• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Minimum six years of clinical experience working with adult neurogenic populations.
• Minimum two years of experience working with adults with right hemisphere brain damage.
• Minimum one year of clinical research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience coordinating clinical research studies involving human subjects.
• Experience with participant recruitment, informed consent, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with OnCore and Maestro Care.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $67,165.00 to USD $104,121.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
