Practice or research specialty/focus of the position: Investigational Drug Service
Position Summary: A clinical pharmacist position in the Investigational Drug Service is immediately available. Candidates must possess excellent writing, organizational, analytic, clinical and interpersonal skills. This clinical pharmacist position has many exciting and challenging responsibilities, the major ones include:
- Meet with investigators and research coordinators regarding IDS services and anticipate budget/resource requirements
- Review all protocols and IDS procedures for study drugs IDS will dispense
- Know and follow all IDS and pharmacy department policies
- Create safe processes for communicating, preparing, delivery and administration of investigational products
- Prepare study instructions as web-based documents for investigational studies and provide education to pharmacists and other health care professionals about studies occurring in their areas
- Create study drug orderables for all study drugs involved in research protocols involving IDS
- Provide specialized pharmaceutical research services to improve study integrity and outcomes
- Meet with clinical study monitors during site initiation visits as needed
- Lead audits conducted by regulatory and compliance groups such as FDA and CTQA
- IRB membership, participating in at least 6 meetings per year
- Serve as a resource for physicians and pharmacists for all aspects of the clinical research processes and use of non-approved drugs under a compassionate use basis
- Oversee and /or Prepare investigational medication for both pediatric and adult patients including orals, injectables, hazardous products and viral vectors.
- Oversee dispensing of investigational products
- Participate in on-call coverage for investigational drug service needs to Duke University Hospital
- Provide specialized pharmaceutical research services to improve study integrity and outcomes
- Contribute to student and resident education
- Provide educational lectures (Duke, State/Local, National)
- Work with peers to achieve division and departmental goals
- Take responsibility for personal and professional growth
- Maintain familiarity with all departmental programs and work as integral part of the pharmacy team
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree
Experience
- With a BS Pharmacy degree, two years of pharmacy practice experience, or acceptable board certification, or completion of an accredited residency program and demonstrated ability to achieve positive patient outcomes in a similar environment is required.
- With Doctor of Pharmacy degree, no experience is required.
- Investigation drug services experience preffered
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
- Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina
