Duke Hospital (Sleep Disorder Center) Durham, North Carolina 

 

Work Hours: 

Day Shift 7:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday-Friday

 

General Summary:

  If you are a Polysomnograhy Technician/professional who’s interested in working in AASM Accredited Center for Sleep Disorders while working for a regional leader in healthcare, delivering compassionate care and improving the lives of those in our communities, join the Duke Health Team.

 

Work Performed:

 

The CPAP Coordinator supports physicians in sleep clinics by retrieving CPAP treatment data for physician interpretation, answering patient CPAP questions, troubleshooting equipment issues, and providing equipment when appropriate. CPAP education and management.

  • Processing of DME orders for CPAP equipment and CPAP supply authorization and delivery.
  • Working with a variety of DME companies that serve our sleep population.
  • Assisting with scheduling, f/u with patients for post Sleep Study sleep clinic visits and /or CPAP Clinic appointments.

  • Ability to practice solid problem-solving techniques to ensure patients understand donning and doffing and are wearing their orthosis properly
  • Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to contribute and work well with a team
  • Ability to take on, organize and complete assigned department projects when requested by manager

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

 

Education:

 

 

 

Level 1 High school diploma or GED or 1 year of post-secondary education, or current enrollment in an accredited educational progr am leading to an Associate's Degreein a health related field with an emphasis in polysomnography or respiratory therapy

 

.Level 2 Associate's Degree in a health related field preferred, or successful completion of a polysomnography, or respiratory therapy program of no less than one year in duration, associated with a state license and/ornationally accredited educational facility.

 

Level 3 Associate's Degree in a health related field preferred inpolysomnography, or respiratory therapy, or successful completion of a polysomnography program, of no less than one year in duration, associated with a state license and/or nationally accredited educational facility.

 

Experience:

 

  • Level 1 -With an Associate's Degree i n a health related field, no experiencerequired; otherwise 6 months of direct patient care experience.
  • Level 2 -18 months experience in polysomnography testing preferred or Documented proficiency in all required competencies as a PolysomnographyTechnician. If no associate's degree in a health related field, must have an additional two years experience in direct patient care.
  • Level 3 -4 years experience in Polysomnography Technology required.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications:

Level 1 Registered Polysomnography Technologists (RPSGT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (CRT or RRT) license required. Maintain current licensure/registration with NC medical board. Maintain current BLS certification.

 

Level 2 Registered Polysomnography Technologists (RPSGT) or Respiratory Therapist with the sleep disorders specialist certification (either CRT-SDS or R RT-SDS) required. Maintain current licensure/registration with NC medical board. Maintain current BLS certification. 

 

Level 3 Registered Polysomnography Technologists (RPSGT) or Respiratory Therapists with the sleep disorders specialist certification (either CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) required. Maintain current licensure/ registration with NC medical board. Maintain current BLS certification.
