Occ Summary
Support Cardiology by maintaining patient informa tion using thecomputerized ECG system. Coordinate and participate in a variety ofduties involved in the operation to provide detailed analysis of cardiacfunctions in the electrocardiogram.
Work Performed
Operate data processing equipment to enter and retrieve a variet y ofpatient information and physicians' reports; edit data to insurecons istency and accuracy; abstract, classify and code data.Interact with hospital information systems and enter confirmed ECGs intothat system.Prepa re duplicates of ECG tracings and physician reports; interface withcompu ter and ECG database to locate and retrieve lost information.Retrieve an d refile ECGs/folders.Perform routine equipment checks, makes minor repa irs to correctmalfunctions; report system malfunctions to appropriate se rvicepersonnel.Assist in the compilation and distribution of ECG tracing s, reports andother data as required; using copier and fax technologies(both paperand electronic), relay messages to technical staff and assist in theresolution of problems.Prepare clinical and research information; using copier and faxtechnologies (both paper and electronic).Perform in itial reading of ECG and review ECGs with attending physician.Recognize errors involved with ECG recording, analysis and storage,including misid entified patients, incorrect lead placement, includinglimb lead reversal , incorrect patient ages, diagnosis, and reason forECG.Provide a prelimi nary diagnostic report to physician and finalpreliminary tracing interpr etation.Recommend and implement new standards, procedures and techniques toimprove existing diagnostic methods.Maintain liaison with physicians, research personnel and staff toresolveproblems and to advise concernin g ECG procedures, techniques andequipment.Interface with departmental pe rsonnel to solve problems concerningpatient care, departmental policy an d treatment procedures relating toelectrocardiogram.Assist in the traini ngof new personnel.Perform other duties as requestedPerform other relat ed duties incidental to the work described herein.
Knowledge , Skills and Abilities
Ability to use computer equipment toenter data into an ECG database.Ability to establish and maintain effective w orking relationships.Working knowledge of the relevant anatomy and physi ology integral to thegeneration and recording of the ECG. Ability to wo rk under pressure,multitask and to accept responsibility for quality and accuracy.

Education
High School graduate or GED.
Experience
Minimum of two year experience as an ECG Technician II or related ECGexperience with recognized competenc e.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Successful completi on:1) Basic 12-Lead class;\2) Dysrhythmia class;3) Pacemaker class; and4 ) National ECG Certification
