The BioRepository & Precision Pathology Center (BRPC) at Duke University in the Department of Pathology is looking for a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to join our team. The BRPC is a core resource at Duke responsible for providing tissue samples as well as consenting and other services to principal investigators at inside and outside of Duke. You will be joining the Collections Team, procuring and processing fresh tissue and other biospecimens, pulling stored tissue from the biobank, de-identifying pathology reports, as well as performing other duties that involve getting research samples to investigators.

In this crucial role, as a member of the Collections Team, you will be contributing to multiple research studies by providing high-quality samples, contributing to the development of standard operating procedures, and assuring that samples are handled and shipped according to each specialized protocol. You will help BRPC remain competitive for the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN) grant, which is a biospecimen resource funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI)

Daily, you will accomplish these important tasks by communicating with pathologist assistants to acquire excess tissue from the operating rooms for research protocols. You will attend biopsy procedures to obtain research samples from participants in clinical trials to assure that Duke patients are continuing to receive cutting edge treatments for various conditions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of an Associate's degree
  • Work requires a minimum of two years of relevant research experience. A Bachelor's degree may substitute for 2 years required experience.
  • Highly collaborative approach and ability to set clear goals and communicate proactively and clearly with key stakeholders and staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to completing work efficiently and by designated deadlines
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ETHICS: Ability to assist the Research Program Leader in identifying adverse events, as well as protocol deviations and in determining whether or not they are reportable.
  • DATA: Ability to use patient health data from the Duke electronic medical record to identify cohorts, extract relevant medical information, and access patient samples.
  • SCIENCE: Participation in conferences on behalf of the BRPC, and this would involve generating abstracts based on literature searches and reviews.
  • STUDY AND SITE MANAGEMENT: Ability to communicate with members of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network about the availability of tissue samples and collaborate with the Collections Team Lead to track milestones associated with the grant.
  • LEADERSHIP: Ability to work with the Collections Team Lead and Research Program Leader to train new team members in the role, contribute to training plans, group workflows and operational design.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 59,829.00 to USD $99,960.00.
