The Duke Campus Farm is seeking a strategic, relationship-centered communicator who can connect the farm's daily impact with the broader university, donor, alumni, and community audiences.
What You’ll Do

Build partnerships across campus and position the farm as a hub for experiential learning, research, and student engagement.

Collaborate with the Office of Climate and Sustainability and university partners to elevate program impact.

Support fundraising campaigns, annual appeals, donor communication, and grant reporting.

Develop outreach strategies that engage alumni and sustainability advocates.

Track donor engagement and maintain stakeholder records.

Create content for newsletters, websites, annual reports, email campaigns, and social media.

Supervise and mentor the Sloss Fellow in student-facing communications efforts.

Capture and share stories, photography, video, and testimonials that highlight program impact.

Provide operational support for farm-wide initiatives and special events.
What You Bring
-
4+ years of experience in communications, public relations, fundraising, university relations, or a related field.

2+ years of experience supervising or mentoring team members, fellows, or student employees.

Strong storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience working with digital communication tools, content creation, photography/video editing, and email marketing platforms.

Understanding of nonprofit-style budgeting, fundraising, and donor stewardship.

Commitment to sustainability, food systems, climate resilience, or food justice.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires two years of experience in program administration and/or sustainable food systems, or experience involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to create, plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events on a working farm.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $61,026.00 to USD $88,434.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
