Occ Summary
This position is responsible for transporting pas sengers over specifieddistant points according to a set time schedule. D uties involve theability to operate the assigned vehicle in a safe, reli able, andprofessional manner whilebeing courteous, patient, and helpful to allpassengers.
Work Performed
Skills and knowledg e of how to operate in a transit systems andcoordination with team membe rs daily.Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Abides by all safety and traffic regulations/laws as well as companypolicy/procedures ; properly completes all required paperwork to includemanifests, pre/pos t-inspection checks, accident reports, and otherapplicable forms/reports . Uses sound judgment in followingdispatchinstructions, being able to recognize, create, and follow logicalsequences for pick- up and drop- of f of passengers in an efficientmanner. Attends training classes with su ccessful completion; answerspassenger questions politely and accurately,to include questions aboutservice area, eligibility requirements, and f ares; ensures passengers'ride is comfortable and safe; provides assistan ce to individuals asneeded; knows and abides by all federal transit requ irements; keepscurrent on the operation of all service routes; safely op erates transitvehicles to pick up and transport customers while adhering to transitvehicle route schedule and maintaining a pleasant and courteo us mannercompletes familiarization with system and safety features; geog raphy androadways of an assignedroute and of the entire service area; t rafficrules, regulations and laws, and transfer points; receives and tra nsmitstwo-way radio messages involving accidents, incidents, emergencies ,criminal activities, or other authorized Duke University businessutiliz ing judgment and discretion to ensure customer and individualsafety. Per forms vehicle operations at varying hours of day and night.Will work out side regular business hours as required by service demands;writes report s and completes forms as required, may prepare detailedwritten reports c oncerning accidents incidents, breakdowns andmechanical defects, as requ ired at the end of their shiftPerforms other duties as required by depar tment on the position

Experience
AT LEAST ONE YEAR EXPERI ENCE OPERATING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATIONVEHICLES/HEAVY TRUCKS OR OTHER HEAVY VEHICLES AND VALID NC CLASS BDRIVERSLICENSE WITH AIR BRAKE AND PASSENGE R ENDORSEMENT, OPERATES BUS TOTRANSPORT STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS AN D VISTORS.
