BUS DRIVER*

Occ Summary

< span>This position is responsible for transporting passengers over speci fied distant points according to a set time schedule. Duties involve the ability to operate the assigned vehicle in a safe, reliable, and profes sional manner while being courteous, patient, and helpful to all passeng ers.

Work Performed< /span>

Skills and knowledge of how t o operate in a transit systems and coordination with team members daily. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Abides by all safety and traffic regulations/laws as well as company policy/procedures; prop erly completes all required paperwork to include manifests, pre /post-in spection checks, accident reports, and other applicable forms/reports. U ses sound judgment in following dispatch instructions, being able to rec ognize, create, and follow logical sequences for pick-up and drop-off ofpassengers in an efficient manner. Attends training classes with succes sful completion; answers passenger questions politely and accurately, to include questions about service area, eligibility requirements, and far es; ensures passengers' ride is comfortable and safe; provides assistanc e to individuals as needed; knows and abides by all federal transit requ irements; keeps current on the operation of all service routes; safely o perates transit vehicles to pick up and transport customers while adheri ng to transit vehicle route schedule and maintaining a pleasant and cour teous manner completes familiarization with system and safety features; geography and roadways of an assigned route and of the entire service ar ea; traffic rules, regulations and laws, and transfer points; receives a nd transmits two-way radio messages involving accidents, incidents, emer gencies, criminal activities, or other authorized Duke University busine ss utilizing judgment and discretion to ensure customer and individual s afety. Performs vehicle operations at varying hours of day and night. Wi ll work outside regular business hours as required by service demands; w rites reports and completes forms as required, may prepare detailed writ ten reports concerning accidents incidents, breakdowns, and mechanical d efects, as required at the end of their shift

Experience

AT LEAST ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE OPERATING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHIC LES/HEAVY TRUCKS OR OTHER HEAVY VEHICLES AND VALID NC CLASS B DRIVERSLIC ENSE WITH AIR BRAKE AND PASSENGER ENDORSEMENT, OPERATES BUS TO TRANSPORT STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS AND VISTORS.
