Title: Assistant Softball Coach

 

Occupational Summary

The opportunity to coach a Top 10 softball program at Duke University contend for Championships assisting with hitting and defense while effectively serving the Department of Athletics and assist the Head Softball Coach by performing roles and responsibilities that will help effectively manage the day-to-day operations of a Division I softball program in accordance with NCAA, ACC Conference and Duke University policies and procedures.

 

Essential Functions:

· Teach and educate student-athletes on proper fundamentals, techniques and game strategies in softball.

· Assist with the recruitment of student-athletes

· Assist with video and film review

· Assist with practice planning and execution

· Assist with travel planning and equipment maintenance

· Additional duties to further the mission and success of Duke Softball

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

· 2-4 years of college coaching experience

· Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications

· Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage student-athletes

· Effective written and verbal communication

· Knowledge of NCAA rules

· Integrating innovative technology and possess strong computer skills with a general knowledge of recruiting and video software, and willingness to learn additional programs as needed.

· The scope of this position requires weekend, evening and possible holiday hours.

· Thrive in fast paced environment, possess a keen attention to details, and ability to multi-task

· Ability to work with a diverse population

· Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

· Knowledge of intercollegiate sports operations

· Ability to travel extensively during the recruiting process

Ability to work in a highly dynamic and diverse university setting

 

Minimum Qualifications Required

Education

Work generally requires analytical, communications and organizationalskills acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
