Seeking a positive and effective leader with exceptional leadership, as well nursing expertise, and collaborative qualities across disciplines (nursing, medical imaging professionals, radiologists) to continually improve the infrastructure of Interventional Radiology.  The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, critical thinking skills, and problem solving, while promoting the highest quality patient care.  This person should be one who strives for excellence and leads by example of the Duke Health Values.  
 
The Assistant Nurse Manager for Interventional Radiology must be a strong advocate for patients and the team they lead.  They need to be technologically savvy, able to troubleshoot and solve the most of difficult challenges, promote a supportive and positive work culture and foster continuous process improvement efforts.  
 
This is a leadership position, rotating 8-hours per day, 40 hours per week; to include possibility of call, weekends, holidays, and inclement weather.  This role includes management of the Interventional Radiology areas of CT, Neuro, Vascular, Ultrasound, and Scheduling.
 
Active registered nurse license required; Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) preferred.

 

 

Level Characteristics

 

 

Use professional nursing judgement to individualize the plan of care based Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

 

  • Must have the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds

 

  • Able to remain focused and organized

 

  • Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients

 

  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions

 

  • Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and other regulatory requirements

 

 

Work Performed

 

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care.  Delegate tasks and supervises the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources. Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Act as preceptor and supports the development of their staff and formal learners. Participate in the formal evaluation process of peers and other care providers. Participate in the identification of clinical oroperational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities. May participate in the interview process and make hiring recommendations. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

  • Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and NCA

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required.

 

Experience

 

 

  • Three years of experience in nursing practice

 

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

 

 

  • Must have current or compact RN license in the State of North Carolina.

 

  • BCLS certification is required.

 

  • Must obtain a nursing leadership certification within two years of hire of appointment.
