The Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition, Football will report directly to the Director of Football Sports Nutrition. The Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition, Football will collaborate and assist with the Director of Football Sports Nutrition in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and management of the sports nutrition services provided to football student-athletes.
Essential Functions:
· Team and Individual Nutritional Counseling and Education
o Evaluate and counsel athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, travel, bone health, digestive health, and supplementation
o Identify and advise on medical related nutrition concerns including but not limited to iron deficiency anemia, sickle cell, diabetes, disordered eating, bone mineral disturbances, gastrointestinal concerns, food allergies and intolerances, and other medical conditions
o Coordinate body composition assessments and counsel student-athletes on achieving and maintaining a level of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and performance
o Present at team meals to provide performance plate coaching.
o Assist and collaborate to provide team nutrition education in the form of educational presentations, handouts, grocery tours, dining hall tours, cooking classes, and other mediums
o Educate team on the use of supplements, ergogenic aids, and banned substances
· Management
o Provide the inventory and stocking of the Football Student-Athlete Lounge and Gatorade Recovery Bar
o Assist with Football Training Table
o Assist with gametime fueling for home and travel competition
o Travel with team to away competition
· Other Duties
o Maintain dietetic registration and continuing education requirements.
o Evaluate nutritional supplements for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy, monitor use of appropriate supplementation.
o Maintain expertise in the rules and regulations of the NCAA, ACC conference, and the University pertaining to student athletes and nutrition through active participation in organizations, workshops, seminars, and review of published literature
o Stay abreast of current food, nutrition, health trends and research related to sports nutrition.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
· Masters degree preferred
· Registered Dietitian credential required
· North Carolina state licensure required upon hire
· Minimum of two years’ experience working in a collegiate or professional football nutrition program
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, time and priority management skills, and ability to work as a supportive team member toward the goals of the Duke Sports Nutrition Department.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires bachelor's degree in dietetics/nutrition and Registered Dietitian required. Masters degree preferred.
Experience

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $48,960.00 to USD $77,928.00.
