Title: Assistant Director of Communications
Position Summary: Duke University requests applications for the position of Assistant Director of Communications. The individual filling this full-time position will be a member of the Athletics Department's communications staff and report to the Executive Director of Communications.
Essential Functions:
· Manage the daily communications responsibilities for assigned sports programs
· Produce media guides, game notes, news releases and feature stories
· Generate feature content, video and other unique coverage for GoDuke.com, the official website of Duke Athletics
· Respond to media requests
· Staff home and selected away events
· Supervising statistical crews and other event support personnel
· Participate in the assigned sports’ creative working group
· Compile statistics, researching historical records for Duke Department of Athletics publications and assisting the communications staff with additional duties
Minimum Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree
· Two years of experience in media relations, communications, public relations or a related field to acquire skills necessary to implement a variety of sports information activities
· OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Preferred Requirements
· Experience in a collegiate or professional media relations environment
· Outstanding written and oral communications skills
· Demonstrated organizational skills
· Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, The Automated Scorebook and NCAA Live Stats.

Education
Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
