The Duke University Campus Recreation and Physical Education Department seeks an Assistant Director of Sport Clubs to join our team!
This is a full-time position under the direct supervision of the Director of Sport Programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight, planning, and development of Sport Club organizations and their members at Duke University. Sport Clubs at Duke consists of 30+ current clubs with an average of 1400 members each year. This position is expected to work occasional afternoon, evening, and weekend hours including Saturdays during home competitions. Work hours will fluctuate in conjunction with Sport Club practices and competitions and will be communicated in advance by the Director of Sport Programs.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Work requires two or more years of experience working in a collegiate recreation setting or a similar field. Two years of Graduate Assistant experience will be considered one year of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in higher education, sports management, or a related field.
Two or more year of professional experience developing Sport Club programming in a collegiate recreation setting.
Budget management experience.
Experience advising student organizations in an higher educational setting.
Current and valid American Red Cross AED/CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
This position is onsite. The work is performed onsite or at a designated assignment location, with occasional work done in the evenings and on the weekends. · Provides direct supervision to the part-time Sport Programs Staff Assistant and part-time student staff.
· Plans and coordinates student development and leadership efforts through monthly Officer Meetings and annual Officer Training.
· Manages Sport Club membership through DoSportsEasy software.
· Counsels students and processes disciplinary actions in response to participation in programs when necessary.
· Co-Leads the Sport Club Executive Board.
· Assists with purchasing and tracking inventory of Sport Club equipment and uniforms.
· Assists the Director of Sport Programs in scheduling of all club practices and events.
· Assists with program budget management including facilitation of Sport Club budget meetings.
· Supervises the Administrative Assistant of Sport Programs in coordinating cash advances, and reimbursements.
· Oversees the travel arrangements for all clubs (domestic, international, and post season).
· Ensures all Sport Club uniforms, marketing and promotions are in conjunction with departmental and university branding standards.
· Conducts annual assessments for programming effectiveness and satisfaction.
· Assists with departmental and Sport Club specific fund raising efforts.
· Manages the Gorter Endowment and the entities that are funded by it.
· Coordinates annual year-end Gorter Banquet and Budget Meeting.
· Acts as liaison between a variety of university constituents including Duke Athletics, Student Government, and other off-campus groups for initiatives and activities.
· Coordinates and adheres to departmental risk management efforts for all programming.
· Serves on departmental, university, and/or national committees.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00.
