Position Summary

Admissions Counselor 

 

Overview

The Admissions Counselor provides administrative support, project management and coordination of admissions functions related primarily to the Daytime and Accelerated Daytime MBA (AMBA), and reports to the Associate Director of Admissions. This position works closely with admissions officers to support their efforts in counseling prospects/applicants, executing on outreach and yield strategies, assisting with in-person and virtual events, and helping with data analysis to guide initiatives.  The Admissions Counselor helps across the broader Admissions team as needed. This position is based in Durham, NC, and is an in-person, on-campus role.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Daytime and AMBA teams in the implementation of admissions processes and practices.
  • Manage the admissions email inbox, fielding all general inquiries and acting as the primary counselor to support all Daytime and AMBA inquiries and share with Admissions Advisors as needed for follow-up.
  • Serve as the Officer of the Day for the Admissions Office, welcoming guests and greeting walk-in prospective students. During official campus visit days, this position will lead the information session with Q&A for applicants and prospective MBA students.
  • Assist Daytime staff with connecting prospective students with current students, clubs, and resources for the purpose of learning more about Fuqua.
  • Host weekly individual office hours and group office hours for applicants, admits, and students on the waitlist to answer questions and share information about Fuqua.
  • Review transcripts to determine applicant eligibility for the Accelerated MBA program.
  • Read and evaluate applications for both the Daytime and Accelerated MBA programs as a member of the Admissions Committee. Present applications to the committee for consideration, and support the Daytime Admissions team with welcome emails, admit gifts, and building relationships with admitted students.
  • Interview candidates for admission as needed.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Admissions to co-create digital content and virtual presentations for Daytime and AMBA virtual information sessions.
  • Serve as the primary presenter for Daytime MBA and AMBA virtual information sessions, and assist with virtual events in answering candidate questions, preparing virtual booths, and ensuring post-event data is accurate, recorded, and updated.
  • Coordinate logistics for virtual information sessions, including entering events, monitoring registration, and creating Zoom links.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Admissions and Social Media ARCs to manage and curate social media content to showcase the school's culture and offerings to prospective applicants and admitted students. This includes creating digital assets for social media campaigns.
  • Support on-campus events such as Diversity Weekends, Admitted Student Weekends, and Open Houses. 
  • Develop relationships with applicants, students, and alumni and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Admissions, counseling, or corporate recruiting experience highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in crafting social media content is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential. 
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be very comfortable in a highly computerized environment. Proficiency with CRM systems, virtual conferencing programs (Zoom), PowerPoint, and Excel required.
