Administrative Assistant - Patient Engagement Center 

 

The Duke Primary Care Patient Engagement Center (DPC PEC) is a high-volume support center that plays a critical role in the financial coordination of care across the Duke Primary Care network. In addition to handling thousands of patient calls daily, the center provides assistance with insurance verification, cost transparency, payment options, and access to financial assistance programs. By prioritizing clear communication and financial clarity, the PEC helps ensure patients are informed and supported in managing the cost of their healthcare.

 

Location: 14 Moore Drive Research Triangle Park, NC 27709

This role is hyrbid and would require several in office days per week. 

 

Hours: 8am – 5pm / 7am - 4pm 

 

What you will do:

The Administrative Assistant provides advanced administrative support to a department or team. This position builds upon the foundational duties of an Administrative Clerk, with additional responsibilities that require greater independence, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. The Administrative Assistant is expected to coordinate projects, manage complex tasks, and serve as a key point of contact within and outside the department.

  • Independently prepare complex documentation, reports, charts, graphs, and spreadsheets at designated intervals and upon request.
  • Coordinate and manage special projects with minimal supervision.
  • Research budget variances and follow up to resolve discrepancies.
  • Develop advanced presentation materials to support departmental or leadership needs.
  • Prioritize and response to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person communication.
  • Schedule and maintain calendars for appointments, meetings, and travel itineraries, including coordination of related logistics.
  • Serve as a liaison between the department and external partners, vendors, or stakeholders.
  • Provide clear explanations of policies and procedures based on thorough knowledge of organizational and departmental guidelines.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze moderately complex data and information for reporting or decision-making purposes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or incidental to the work described above.

 

What you will need:

Education

  • High school education or equivalent.

 

Experience

  • Two years of administrative support experience of increasing variety and/or complexity.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

  • N/A

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Creatively uses PC, word processing and other office tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of department policies, procedures, and goals.
