AV Integration Specialist – OIT AV Integration & Support

Duke’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) – AV Integration & Support team is looking for an AV Integration Specialist to help build the next generation of technology‑enhanced learning, research, and collaboration spaces across campus. In this role, you will install, integrate, and support audiovisual systems that enable teaching, discovery, and communication throughout Duke University.
You’ll partner with AV Engineering & Design, Classroom Support, Facilities, faculty, and project teams to ensure classrooms, lecture halls, research labs, and collaboration environments are equipped with reliable, modern technology. Minimum Requirements
- Experience installing and commissioning professional AV systems.
- Ability to read and interpret signal flow diagrams and scopes of work.
- Experience with rack fabrication, structured cabling, labeling, and cable management.
- Experience installing or configuring equipment from Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Cisco, Epson, Sony, LG, Sharp, Vaddio, or similar manufacturers.
- Ability to perform system testing, validation, and structured troubleshooting.
- Ability to collaborate with technical teams, construction partners, and faculty/staff end users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating AV control systems, DSPs, switching, and HDBaseT infrastructure.
- Experience contributing to Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and project documentation.
- Experience working in higher education, enterprise IT, or large‑scale AV deployment environments.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety requirements, and AV standards.
Other Requirements
- Ability to lift and transport AV equipment as part of installation activities.
- Ability to perform onsite work in active construction and renovation spaces.
Work Arrangement
This position is onsite, with work performed across campus locations. This position does NOT offer visa sponsorship.

Essential Job Duties
- Install, configure, and commission audiovisual systems in classrooms, lecture halls, labs, conference rooms, and collaboration spaces.
- Perform fabrication tasks including rack building, wiring, testing, labeling, cable management, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct site visits and work with design engineers to determine installation approaches and methods.
- Contribute to Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications, and upgrade planning.
- Interpret signal flow diagrams to accurately execute AV integrations.
- Integrate and commission control systems, DSPs, switching equipment, HDBaseT infrastructure, and specialty devices.
- Validate system functionality, document exceptions, create punch lists, and ensure performance standards are met.
- Collaborate with Classroom Support, Central IT, IT Security, AV Engineering, and construction partners to resolve issues and recommend improvements.
- Assist in integrating new devices into existing AV systems and support updates to system configurations.
- Ensure adherence to AV standards, safety guidelines, structured cabling practices, and university requirements.
- Respond to customer and instructor support requests, performing advanced troubleshooting and escalation as needed.
- Support continuous improvement of AV standards, workflows, and user experience across Duke’s academic and administrative units.
