The Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at Duke University is looking for an Associate Director of Research Operations to join our team. The position will ensure continual compliance with regulations and funder’s standards through monitoring activities and the design and implementation of strategies to enhance compliance, stakeholder engagement and capacity building efforts. The ENC-HEAL project is a large and ambitious grant that requires continual strategic plan updating and implementing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of seven years of experience with management of research staff, experience with grant proposals and budget development, experience with REDCap software implementation and data management skills. At least one year of experience in proven leadership and effective management of the work of a large staff. General knowledge of internal and external research compliance regulations.

Position Description:

  • Plan monthly in-person meetings aimed at improving the performance and quality of the program, leadership and the team.

 

  • Attend 1 weekly ENC-HEAL leadership meeting and 1 weekly ENC-HEAL full team meeting each week to learn of any changes or updates to the program. Attend the monthly meetings with the OPA grant officer to learn of any new requirements or requests.

 

  • Lead weekly meeting with the ENC-HEAL Program Director to discern whether the strategic implementation plans are going as planned and to provide advice on ways to move forward on each activity being implemented.

 

  • Lead every-other week meetings with the ENC-HEAL Principal Investigator, Program Director and Research Program Lead to to discern whether the strategic implementation plans are going as planned and to provide advice on ways to move forward on each activity being implemented.

 

  • Produce reports and presentations on performance improvement and compliance for the ENC-HEAL Principal Investigator, Program Director and Research Program Lead.

 

  • Work with the OPA grants officers to outline strategic goals and objectives (including community engagement and outreach, and compliance and program evaluation)

 

  • Ensure the team Meets funder requirements and oversee the implementation of those strategies.

 

  • Develop implementation plans to execute strategies, , outreach marketing and coordination and community-based SWOT analyses.

 

  • Identify team opportunities for improved project performance by developing key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assess professional and team development needs and areas for growth; Design and implement learning and strategies for enhancing performance.

 

  • Evaluate effectiveness of improvement strategy through sustained monitoring of performance; Monitor compliance through quantitative and qualitive assessments with leadership, the team, and community partners.

 

 

  • Serve as an expert resource on performance improvement of planning and organization, leadership and management, and communication and interpersonal skills and compliance as it relates to project implementation.

 

  • Engage with Principal Investigator (PI) and Program Director to develop and/or oversee implementation and improvement reports to funder.

 

  • Develop, maintains, and enhances knowledge through management trainings, orientation trainings, and helping each program lead member develop self-evaluation techniques. Responsibilities may include varying levels of strategic planning and human and fiscal resource management

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 78,161.00 to USD $156,319.00.
