Occupational Summary

 

This position will provide thought leadership and project analysis support for the 2024-2025 Bass Connections project team, Discovering AI Applications for Traumatic Brain Injury Care (2024-2025).
This team, comprising faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students, will aim to establish a robust foundation for scientific research on AI-enhanced traumatic brain injury (TBI) care within the Duke Health System. They will explore the practical applications of AI by analyzing electronic health records and imaging data of TBI patients, focusing on improving care practices and outcomes.
The administrative intern will report to the faculty project leader.

 

Work Performed

 

The administrative intern will help organize the team and keep the team moving forward by:
•    Refining project proposals, enhancing the understanding of TBI care through additional interviews, and qualitative research.
•    Expanding the dataset with imaging data to improve AI model accuracy.
•    Running AI models on electronic health records and imaging data to derive actionable insights for TBI care.
•    Collaborating with clinical champions for practical feedback and integrating these insights into AI applications.
•    Setting and tracking project milestones and timelines, ensuring adherence to goals.
•    Identifying operational challenges and facilitating solutions to maintain project momentum.
•    Engaging with external partners to support project objectives.
•    Assisting in the preparation and submission of publications detailing the project's findings.
•    Seeking opportunities to present qualitative and modeling findings to wider audiences.

 

Qualifications


•    Strong background in research
•    Expertise in trauma education and qualitative study research in medical field 
•    Demonstrated ability to connect with diverse groups of faculty, administrators and students

 

Benefits

 

This is a temporary, hourly position that will be available through the end of this project. Hourly compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

Work requires communications, analy tical and organizational skillsgenerally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
