Occupational Summary:

The Administrative Intern will primarily be responsible for assisting in administrative and research projects related to the Carnegie Elective Re-Classification for Community Engagement framework, Community Benefit Standards reporting, and other institutional and community awards and recognitions for a digital data platform. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the Community Research Collaborative (CRC). This position regularly interacts across units within the Duke Office of Durham and Community Affairs (DCA) and engages with internal and external stakeholders.

 

This is a one-year term-limited position.

 

Areas of Responsibility:

 

Assisting in Data Collection, Analysis, Interpretation, & Reporting (50%)

  • Conduct literature searches and summarize findings into conceptual maps, fact sheets, reports, etc.
  • Edit, proofread, and engage in citation checks.
  • Prepare tables, charts, and graphs.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews, focus groups, field observations, and write-up of notes.
  • Engage in general data coding, data cleaning, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Maintain confidential data, records, and files. As well as document research activities through field notes, debrief reports, and analytic memos based on project templates, which will be submitted and reviewed by project leads and may be subject to revision. Submit audio files and electronic documents to a designated research team member using project naming conventions and as directed.
  • Participate in applied research team meetings.
  • Contribute to research products, such as data memos, fact sheets, presentations, and articles/reports.
     

Managing the Community Research Collaborative (45%)

    • Plan meeting agendas and communicate regularly with key stakeholders regarding the status of multiple projects, especially pertaining to the digital data platform.
    • Develop and manage a detailed project plan, including resource allocations, milestones, and deliverables.
    • Communicate with colleagues to facilitate collaboration and success of a cadre of projects.
    • Assist in the dissemination of findings through the writing of results and reports.
    • Assist in promoting the digital data platform through marketing, outreach, and engagement of stakeholders using print, online venues, and social media.
    • Mentor and train new undergraduate and graduate student interns within the CRC.
    • Perform additional duties as needed.

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
