Postdoctoral Associate 

Single-cell and spatial data science in pulmonary research

The Postdoctoral Training Program in Pulmonary Medicine Research at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a successful postdoctoral associate in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics. Duke University School of Medicine is regularly ranked among the top research institutions in the US and worldwide and has a leading program in pulmonary and transplantation research. It is located in Durham, North Carolina.

 

Position Description:

This position is to develop and apply innovative statistical, computational, and machine-learning methods to analyze cutting-edge single-cell and spatial genomics data in pulmonary research. There is a unique opportunity to discover functions and behaviors of cells in lung tissues and identify potential biomarkers related to various pulmonary diseases including lung allograft dysfunction and lung fibrosis. This position will be jointly supervised by Drs. Zhicheng Ji, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, and Scott Palmer, the Donald F. Fortin, M.D. Distinguished Professor in the Department of Medicine.

 

This Postdoctoral Training Program, also known as Pulmonary ReSearch to Promote, Engage and Retain Academic Researchers (PROSPER), is designed to train a new generation of postdoctoral MD and PhD scientists to become future leaders in the basic, translational and clinical research, clinical trials and health service research of major lung diseases. This NHLBI-funded T32 grant provides specific educational and training opportunities, protected research time and support for research and career development activities for fellows. Position Eligibility:

· Be a US citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident at the time of appointment.

· Must hold a PhD degree in biostatistics, statistics, computer science, computational biology, applied mathematics, or a related field.

· Demonstrate a strong interest in an academic research career, particularly within pulmonary medicine research.

· Be able to commit to a post-doctoral training program typically for 2 years.
